Reflection: This week we had employee appreciation day. On our lunches/breaks, all the employees could go into the break room and the manager cooked all kinds of Mexican food. I ate way more than I should have. We always have it once a year so it's a nice treat to be fed a little bit. The rest of the week I kept hoping there were leftovers in the fridge at work but I guess someone ate it all. Work-wise, it was another chill week. Nothing too much to handle, but it kept me busy which was good.
My duties since I first started this internship have remained the same. I've become more familiar with the program I use, so I'm able to do more things with it but my tasks haven't changed. I have been given more responsibility by being able to go on break and lunches by myself without anyone telling me too.

Reflection: This week was finally a little bit of a break for me. Sarah gave me the day off in the middle of the week because she knew I was working hard and we hadn't had a lot of surveys come in that day to analyze. The rest of the days were normal, not to busy either. To be honest it was kind of boring compared to the crazy amount of work I've had the last couple of weeks. I shouldn't be complaining I guess.
My main contribution to my internship is supplying my store with the knowledge of how we stand amongst the company as a whole. I relay the information in ways that everyone can understand and appreciate what we're doing. I feel proud my manager can rely on me to do my work without having to supervise me or always be looking over my shoulder at what I'm doing. I feel independent with my work and I'm contempt with the quality of work that I do.

Reflection: This week was a lot more hectic than I had imagined. I figured that after the work period, there would be no new data for me to enter, so I wouldn't have a lot to do. I was wrong. Because all of the categories of data are refreshed, that means that for every survey entered, I had to report each individual piece of it. Otherwise, I wouldn't have any work to do and Sarah wasn't having that. She kept me busy, but I'm glad she did. It made the time go by very fast and before I knew it, this week was over. I was very stressed throughout it, making sure I did everything right and on time. It was a good learning experience. It taught me how to handle a large workload under a certain time.
The internship is meeting my expectations because of the amount of work given. This past couple of weeks have been quite a bit of work in terms of busywork. There's always something I could be working on and that's what I expected. Sometimes I didn't wish it were so but that's just the way it is. I don't have that much control in it because we constantly have surveys and data points that need to be plugged in and arranged. It makes the internship go by pretty quick though.

Reflection: This week was the end of the work period for Harris Teeter. That meant that in the coming week, all of the statistics and data would be refreshed again. Sarah really wanted me to hit this week hard with work because we had the most data points because it was the latest in the period. I made quite a few charts and graphs and added them to the wall in the break room. This was probably my hardest week of work. It was still manageable though. I was able to take my break whenever I wanted and that broke up my day a lot more. It was a good learning experience.
Taking the Microsoft Excel and Powerpoint class with Ms. Caudill helped prepare me for this internship. My use of Microsoft Excel during my internship went a lot smoother because of that class. I already knew the basics and what to do so it was fairly easy. Just in general my enrollment in technological classes within AOIT helped me figure out the Harris Teeter software also. There's nothing necessarily that I wish I had learned prior to the internship. Everything is farily easy to use in the first place. AOIT has prepared me well for this internship as a whole.

Reflection: The following couple of days I familiarized myself more with the software including Microsoft Excel. Sarah gave me a small task those. I had to compare our percentages with that of the companies, to see where we stood and what we needed to do better. I plugged in the data from customer surveys and then organized them in all sorts of ways into Excel. I put it in a bar graph form, line graph, charts, tables, you name it. Then Sarah came in and picked which one she liked the best out of all of them. We then printed that out and put it on a news board in the break room for all the other employees to see. Everyone got to see my work which was cool!
Decisions at Harris Teeter are made in a branch format. We report to our managers who report to their managers and so on. So I get my little jobs from my direct manager but bigger tasks I would ultimately get from a couple levels up. It's a cooperative environment but to a certain extent. We usually have our own specific jobs to do and we do it, if we need help we'll ask but for the most part, we do the work by ourselves. In the summer the dress code is Khaki shorts and a blue Harris Teeter polo, while in the winter and fall months it's Khaki pants instead. I've seen the work ethic to be pretty impressive, however, you've always got the couple employees who don't work as hard but that's just going to happen. For the most part, the work ethic is pretty high.
